Mollie Ring

A sneak peak of a recent Senior Session.  Lighting was good...many thanks to Mollie's mom-the official lighting assistant of the shoot.

Hummingbird Lane

So I had the pleasure of getting away this weekend down to the Carbondale/Marion area where my dad just moved. I had the great opportunity to do a bridal shoot down there with my friend Krystal, got some incredible images (which will be coming very soon). But spent the rest of the time at my dads, new 23 acre resort, too bad it felt like I was in an armpit all weekend. But the road he lives on is Hummingbird Lane, never really thought about it at first until I was there...

I guess sugar water really does work and it doesn't seem to harm the birds, my dad's been doing it for some time now, they go nuts over it. It's green because of food coloring.

Hudson

Our great friends Megan and Dan welcomed Hudson into their family about 6 weeks ago.  They travelled up yesterday to visit and we took a few of the new guy.  He's even cuter in person (Hudson, not Dan ;-)

next gen

Was visiting college friends a couple months ago and just came across these pics from the day.  We have kids now.  Time flies....many changes.

Snapshots...no time on composition, no time on setting up lighting, zilch time on post processing (only a quick change to black and white)...just soul and story.  -post by Kyle

Jamie Q Senior Pics

So I had an awesome session with Jamie Quinn from Glenwood the other day. She was a real trooper as we had a 3 hour session, mostly outdoors, and you all know how hot and muggy it was! She did great though!  -  posted by Matt

Fear

Those of you who are struggling with career moves and decisions really need to read 48 Days to the Work You Love by Dan Miller.  It was one of the books that gave me the courage to step out into photography 'full time,' meaning without a day job.  Anyway, I also subscribe to his weekly newsletter and wanted to pass on some great wisdom from one of his letters a few weeks ago.  -Kyle

Without thinking - What is God's most frequent command? If you're like most people, you probably thought of "Love the Lord your God," or "Love One Another." Or maybe one of the other Ten Commandments. None of those make it to the top of the list for the most common command from God.

You know what it is? "Do not be afraid."

That shows up over three hundred times in the Scripture. A quick Google search for "fear" shows up 304 Million sites, while "confidence" show up a little more than half as often at 180 Million. In hearing from hundreds of people each week who say they would like to develop some idea on their own, the two most frequently "perceived" obstacles are:

1. Lack of Money
2. Too much Fear

Some quotes on fear:

The one permanent emotion of the inferior man is fear - fear of the unknown, the complex, the inexplicable. What he wants above everything else is safety. -- Henry Louis Mencken

Fear is the highest fence. -- Dudley Nichols

In politics, what begins in fear usually ends in folly. -- Coleridge

You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith. -- Mary Manin Morrissey

Fear is faith that it won't work out. -- Sister Mary Tricky

If a man harbors any sort of fear, it percolates through all his thinking, damages his personality and makes him a landlord to a ghost. -- Lloyd Douglas

Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right. -- Henry Ford

You can't discover new oceans unless you have the courage to leave the shore. -- Anonymous

Don't fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have. -- Louis E. Boone

Where fear is present, wisdom cannot be. -- Lactantius

The worst sorrows in life are not in its losses and misfortune, but its fears. -- A. C. Benson
